Cybersecurity fundamentals – interview notes
1. What is the CIA triad?
Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability – the three goals of information security.
2. Hashing vs encryption?
Hashing is one-way (used for passwords and integrity checks). Encryption is two-way with a key (used to protect data you need to read later).
3. Name three OWASP Top 10 risks.
Broken access control, injection (e.g. SQL injection) and security misconfiguration.
4. What is zero trust?
Never trust by network location; verify every user and device on every request, with least-privilege access.
