Snowflake – advanced interview notes
1. What are micro-partitions?
Snowflake stores tables in small, immutable columnar files with min/max metadata per column, which lets it skip (prune) partitions that cannot match a filter.
2. When should you add a clustering key?
Only on large tables where queries filter on the same columns and pruning is poor. Clustering costs credits to maintain.
